About Erleen

After approximately 10 years working outdoors with horses Erleen made the switch to working with people. Looking for solutions to her own chronic pain and illness had always led her down alterative treatment paths and she took up studies in massage and sport and recreation while building her business as a massage therapist. Whilst recognizing the benefits of massage treatment she was also disappointed in the often short term results achieved and the physical toll it took on her own body so continued to build her tool kit with other modalities. Erleen has always applied the theory of treating the body as a whole rather than individual parts and has built on this gaining qualifications in Holistic Heath coaching and Neuro-posture specialization through the UK’s Applied Movement Neurology Academy.

Being active and spending time outdoors has always been important to Erleen for her mental and emotional health and is a REPS registered (https://www.reps.org.nz/) personal trainer maintaining a high level of continuing education to offer the best support to her clients.

Late In 2019 Erleen was introduced to mountain biking and immediately fell in love with the adventure and freedom she found on the bike, this was a way to be outdoors for longer, exploring new places whilst using less energy than running. She continues to develop her skills, set new challenges and push her mental boundaries in this sport. Gaining so much on both a mental and physical level from being active has made Erleen passionate about keeping or helping to get others, especially women, active in ways that are sustainable and that they enjoy.

Having gained immeasurable benefits from over 10 years of practicing yoga Erleen wanted to be able to offer this to others and in February 2021 started her 200hr yoga teacher training. She completed her training part time over eight months, followed up with a further five months of mentorship and feels that having so much time to integrate her learning into her life has left her in the best possible place to be able to offer the gift of yoga to others. Erleen is a registered Yoga New Zealand (https://yoganewzealand.org.nz/) teacher committed to upholding a high standard of teaching.

Erleen lives with her partner and two dogs and enjoys spending time with them, tending her garden and fruit trees, undertaking creative projects and going on wild adventures in nature.

Marja’s story & kind words.

“ I met Erleen in July 2020, when, in desperation, I went to a gym to see if exercise would ease the spasm in my back, and found Erleen’s poster advertising her services instead.  I have not looked back since and credit my pain free, active lifestyle to Erleen’s practice.

Thoroughly approachable and easy to talk to, Erleen is quick to detect stress and strain within minutes of me walking into her clinic.  Truly professional in her treatment, she is extremely knowledgeable about the workings of the whole body.  Her explanations of how muscles, nerves and fascia tissue influence each other allows me to understand my aches and pains; this in turn enables me to work with my body to alleviate, and better still, prevent this pain.

Erleen’s caring and encouraging manner forms the basis of every session.  Using various techniques like pressure points, dry needling, gentle massage and tape, she switches on muscles that have become ineffective.  Together with a delightful sense of humour, the end result is an uplifted spirit and a body whose muscles are now working as they should.

Having an excellent memory, Erleen builds on previous treatments, and gives me homework when I leave; simple exercises to maintain the body’s equilibrium between appointments.  Working on my posture in recent months, I feel I’ve grown taller and it makes me feel great!

I haven’t been to a physiotherapist since going to Erleen’s practice and I credit that to her expertise.  She truly looks after you as a whole person, body and soul! ”
